Easy Blue Cheese Dip Made with Greek Yogurt
I was gifted a 7 pound block of fresh blue cheese recently, that’s a lot of blue cheese even for blue cheese lovers! Luckily blue cheese does freeze well, so that is where most of it still is, in the freezer. But with a gift that size I have been using it in all sorts of ways, including this amazing greek yogurt based blue cheese dip recipe.
Blue Cheese Dip is a staple for watching sports games like the super bowl, it goes great with chips, veggies, and wings as a dipping sauce. It is versatile and so easy to make ahead. Plus it leaves out some of the stuff you don’t want like cream cheese or mayo and uses protein packed greek yogurt as its base, so it is totally guilt free!
Serve with dishes like a Wedge Salad or Pressure Cooker Hot Wings.

Ingredients
- Plain Greek yogurt – The base of the dip, providing creaminess and tang. I prefer using the 5% fat version because I think it is creamier and with a better flavor but you can use any percentage of fat including non-fat greek yogurt.
- Crumbled Blue Cheese – For that bold, tangy flavor. Sometimes spelled Bleu Cheese the better quality cheese you have the better the dip is going to taste.
- Lemon Juice – Adds brightness and balances the richness of the cheese.
- Garlic – Adds a subtle kick of flavor.
- Pepper to taste – Enhances the overall flavor.
- Chives for garnishing (optional) – Adds a pop of color and freshness.

Instructions
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, blue cheese, lemon juice, water, and minced garlic.
Whisk the ingredients together until well combined and smooth. You can leave some chunks of blue cheese if you prefer a textured dip. If you want the dip to have a more runny consistency simply add more water to the dip until you get to a consistency you like.
Taste and then season with freshly ground black pepper as desired.
Serve immediately with chips, crackers, fresh vegetables like baby carrots or celery sticks, chicken wings, or as a topping for salads. Garnish with chopped chives for a fresh, vibrant touch.

tips, tricks and questions
Can I use a different type of yogurt?
Yes, you can use plain yogurt or low-fat yogurt, but it may result in a thinner consistency. Greek yogurt is ideal for its thickness and creamy texture.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Absolutely! In fact, the flavors deepen and improve after resting in the fridge for a few hours. Store it in an airtight container, this dip will last as long as the yogurt will last according to the packaging.
What can I serve this dip with?
This dip is incredibly versatile. Serve it with raw veggies like carrots and celery, potato chips, buffalo wings, or even as a topping for baked potatoes! It can also be used as a blue cheese dressing with greek yogurt on top of salads.
Is this recipe gluten-free?
Yes, the dip itself is naturally gluten-free. Just make sure your dippers (like chips or crackers) are also gluten-free if needed.
How do I make the dip thinner or thicker?
For a thinner consistency, add more water or a splash of milk. For a thicker dip, reduce the amount of water or increase the Greek yogurt.
Variations
Make it spicy by adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce for a spicy twist. If you don’t want any chunks of blue cheese in the dip use a food processor to mix all the ingredients until smooth.
