Fun Halloween Food Idea: Pumpkin Veggie Tray
Seriously everyone is going to love this veggie tray! I have never seen my 5 year old eat veggies so fast! Nothing is more festive for halloween than a jack’o lantern veggie platter.
The best part is that it is simple to make in just a few minutes and with only a short list of ingredients.
This veggie tray goes great served with my Yogurt Ranch Dip, Easy Hummus, or Pumpkin Hummus recipes! Of course you can always grab your favorite dip at the store too.
It would also be amazing served along side this Zombie Brains Cheese Ball, Spooky Black Halloween Sangria, Vampiro Cocktail, or these Halloween Donuts for a full halloween party, it seriously it can’t get anymore festive!
ingredients
- Baby Carrots – Don’t be deceived, this pumpkin takes a lot of baby carrots to make, grab that big 2 pound bag otherwise you might not have enough.
- Black Olives – You will want large or medium sized olives.
- Orange Bell Pepper – I love using the orange bell pepper to hold the shapes in place! Because they don’t roll around like the baby carrots they work perfect for outlining the pumpkin’s face. They double great as the cute little stripes that you see on real pumpkins.
- Cucumber – You son’t need a lot of cucumber here, honestly just a couple on inches. Since people do love cucumber I still cut up the rest and serve it in a little bowl next to the tray.
- Dips for Serving – Whatever is your favorite dips, I have been giving two options a ranch and a hummus.
For a complete detailed list of the ingredients continue towards the bottom of the page.
pro tip
Any extras of the veggies you can simply add to a bowl to put next to the serving platter for people to eat.
instructions
Using a dinner plate or small circular platter outline the mouth, eyes, and nose with pieces of orange bell pepper. Add the cucumbers in the spot where the stem goes at the top of the plate.
Start adding carrots all around the shapes you’ve outlined until you have a single layer of carrots all around the plate in the shape of a circle.
Add a first layer of black olives to the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Now add a second layer of baby carrots on top of the first layer. Followed by a second layer of black olives in the eyes, nose, and mouth spot.
Add stripes to the pumpin using more orange bell pepper strips. You Halloween Pumpkin Veggie Tray is now ready to serve!
tips, tricks and questions
When picking a platter or plate try to pick one that doesn’t have too much of a bowl shape and is more flat, it will make it easier. Also bonus points if you pick a black plate!
