Roasted Cauliflower in the Air Fryer: A Delicious and Healthy Side Dish Option
If you’re looking for a flavorful and nutritious side, look no further than air fryer cauliflower. This versatile vegetable can be transformed into a crispy and delicious treat with the help of an air fryer. This is one of those recipes that you will watch you family finishes all of their veggies on their plate first!
This cauliflower in the air fryer recipe has a few advantages. My favorite is that it is quick. So quick and easy that it is almost an after thought when it comes time to make the meal.
Another advantage of using an air fryer is that it requires just a little oil, making it a healthier alternative to deep-fried snacks. By cooking cauliflower in an air fryer, you can achieve a satisfying crunch without the added calories and fat.
I also personally find that the air fryer is so much easier to turn on and clean than turning on the oven.
For whatever reason you want to make this dish there is no doubt that the cauliflower comes out of the air fryer with a delightfully crispy outside and tender inside!
Ingredients
- Cauliflower – A smaller head works best for this recipe, you can use a large head of cauliflower but just note because there will be more the cauliflower will take longer to cook.
- Olive Oil – You may use other cooking oil here as well, whatever suits your family best.
- Smoked Paprika – Smoked Paprika is the key, it has a very different profile from regular paprika (aka it is smoky) so stick with the smoked variety.
- Garlic Powder – Garlic powder to help flavor along with the smoked paprika.
- Kosher Salt – And of course salt, if you don’t have kosher salt you can use sea salt. If you only have table salt available to you use half the amount.
pro tip
Feel free to use pre-cut cauliflower florets if you have them available to you!
How To Cut Cauliflower
Rinse the cauliflower head well. Pat completely dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
Using a chef’s knife, cut the cauliflower in half through the stem and then in half again through the stem leaving the cauliflower in quarters. Use the knife to carefully remove the the core and leaves. Once the core is gone the florets should start to come off on their own, cut any large ones if needed.
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400º F.
Add the cauliflower florets to a mixing bowl and drizzle on the olive oil. Toss together to coat the olive oil over the cauliflower florets. Sprinkle the smoked paprika, garlic power, and salt overtop the cauliflower and toss well to mix.
Transfer the cauliflower to the air fryer. Cook the cauliflower 8 to 10 minutes tossing every 3 to 4 minutes during the cooking process. Serve immediately.
tips, tricks and questions
For best results ensure that your cauliflower florets are close to the same size for cooking, too many different sizes will result in uneven cooking.
You may use sea salt instead of kosher salt but if you want to use table salt use half of the amount.
Is air fryer cauliflower healthy?
Yes! Cauliflower is a low calorie food and full of nutrients like fiber, vitamins C and K, as well as a good source of folate.
Are Cauliflower Leaves And Stems Edible?
Yes they are! Feel free to roast/air fry the leaves and serve them on the side. The stems can be frozen and then use them in smoothies, it gives the smoothies a great texture!
Can I Use Frozen Cauliflower Florets?
You can, as long as the cauliflower is completely thawed. Frozen cauliflower will produce a lot of liquid which you don’t want as it will result in a mushy texture not a crispy texture.
