How to Make a Wedge Salad Board
This Wedge Salad Board is a versatile, beautiful, and delicious dish that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering. I mean everyone likes a good food board right, I am quite sure following the charcuterie boom everything is better when served on a platter and this salad is no exception. This is great as a main course for a summer lunch or a great way to serve a side salad along side your favorite meal.
One of the best things about the Wedge Salad Board is how easy it is to make. With a prep time of just 10 minutes and no complicated cooking involved, you can whip this up in no time. And as easy as it is the Wedge Salad Board is as beautiful as it is delicious. The vibrant colors and varied textures make it a feast for the eyes, perfect for any social gathering.
And everyone you are serving will love this board too because it allows for endless customization. Whether your guests have specific dietary needs or taste preferences, you can easily adjust the ingredients to suit everyone.
You and guests can choose to make a classic wedge salad with iceberg, blue cheese dressing, bacon, and tomatoes or you can choose something more unique.
Not to mention there is the added health benefits to serving a salad on a platter, it is packed with fresh vegetables and nutrient-rich ingredients. With ingredients like blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, and red onions, this dish is both delicious and nutritious.

ingredients
- Iceberg Lettuce – You will want one to three heads of lettuce depending on the size of your group. In order to quarter cut the head of iceberg lettuce you will want to cut through the stem to get four even pieces and then cut off the stem for a better presentation.
- Blue Cheese Dressing – A good creamy blue cheese dressing is what is on a classic wedge salad so having blue cheese dressing is a must.
- Ranch Dressing – Ranch dressing in my opinion is the perfect substitiute for those who don’t likek blue cheese but you could also use other salad dressing besides ranch like thousand island dressing, green goddess dressing, or even just balsamic vinegar with olive oil.
- Cherry Tomatoes – You will want to halve these or even quarter cut them for easier eating.
- Red Onion – A nice thinly sliced red onion is a great addition to a wedge salad.
- Cooked Bacon – You can buy bacon crumbles or fry your own slices of crispy bacon and chop up your own bacon pieces.
- Fried Onions – Not a classic to the wedges salad but I think this makes a delightful crunchy addition to the wedge salad, feel free to leave them off though if they aren’t something you like.
- Blue Cheese – You can grab a block of blue cheese or a package of blue cheese crumbles.
- Crumbled Feta – I found feta to be a great alternative to the blue cheese you could also go with a different cheese like cheddar.
Other ideas include hard-boiled eggs, cucumber, avocado, and/or croutons.

Instructions
Gather your large serving or charcuterie board: You’ll need several ramekins or small bowls for the dressings and cheeses.
Cook the Bacon: If needed, fry the bacon until crispy, then drain the grease on a paper towel-lined plate. Once cool enough to handle chop it into small pieces.
Prepare the Lettuce: Cut each of the iceberg lettuce heads into 4 quarter wedges, making 8 wedges total. Place the wedges around the edge of the board.
Arrange the Dressings and Cheeses: Add the dressings to a small bowl or ramekin and place the crumbled cheeses in other small bowls/ramekins. Arrange these bowls in the center of the board.
Prep and Place the Vegetables: Halve the cherry tomatoes and thinly slice the onion. Arrange these, along with the fried onions and chopped bacon, in the spaces between the bowls and lettuce wedges.
Serve: Include small spoons for the dressings and serve immediately with plates, forks, and knifes for guests to help themselves to make their own salad.

tips, tricks and questions
Can I use other types of lettuce?
Technically it won’t really be a wedge salad anymore but yes you can use other kinds. You can substitute with Romaine or Butter lettuce.
What other toppings can I add?
Consider adding cucumber slices, avocado, croutons, or other types of cheese like gouda or cheddar.
How do I keep the lettuce fresh if not serving immediately?
Store the cut wedges in the refrigerator, covered with a damp paper towel, until ready to serve. Luckily iceberg lettuce is very hearty so it should be okay if you prep it in advance.
Can I make this board in advance?
Yes, you can prepare all the ingredients ahead of time and assemble just before serving to maintain freshness.
Is there a vegetarian version?
Simply omit the bacon and add more vegetable toppings or nuts for added crunch and flavor.
